Mejillones al vapor | Steamed mussels


Hi cocinero! A beginners recipe coming up today: mejillones al vapor (steamed mussels).  Simple, quick, easy, healthy… What else could we ask for? Perfect as a tapa to share for lunch, or for a healthy dinner.

Serves: 2

Difficulty: I can light the stove



400 g fresh mussels

2 garlic cloves

2 bay leaves

200 ml water

half a lemon

fresh parsley



Roughly chop the parsley.

Crush the garlic cloves and squeeze the lemon.

Put all the ingredients together in a pot.

Cover with a lid and cook at low heat just until the mussels open.

Serve and enjoy!

*Tip: do not discard the water, serve it with the mussels or freeze it and use it in your next fish/seafood stew.
